Pamela Bridgewater was appointed to serve as the Ambassador to Jamaica in 2010, retiring only earlier this year. Prior to her work in Jamaica, she served as an ambassador in Ghana from 2005-2008, led the U.S. delegation to Liberian Peace Talks during the 2003 civil war in that country and was the ambassador to Benin from 2000-2002. During the intense negotiations leading up to the end of apartheid in South Africa, she was the political officer assigned to cover Nelson Mandela and the African National Congress.
